WHO WE ARE
Treasures is a dynamic and inspirational, survivor-led, faith-based non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, CA. We are dedicated to empowering women who have been exploited and trafficked through the commercial sex industry to live healthy, flourishing lives.
This is the work that we’re doing with the support of our donors and the is the impact you make when your partner with Treasures…
CARE
Through our survivor-led mentoring, support groups, retreats, recovery curriculum, emergency relief fund, and community partnerships, we help women heal from their past and rebuild their lives.
Last year, 737 women received care from Treasures.
ONLINE SUPPORT GROUPS
Treasures offers online support groups to women who have experienced exploitation and trafficking. They are designed to be a safe place where women can experience peer support, skill building, community, and an opportunity for healing and restoration. All of our support groups are led by lived-experience experts (survivors of exploitation and trafficking). Last year, 492 women attended our online support groups.
MENTORING
Women who have attended at least three of our support group sessions are invited to apply for one-on-one mentorship with a Treasures-trained mentor. Mentors go through an extensive 8-hour digital training and six months of intensive, online group training which involves skill-building, role-playing and exploring scenarios mentors may encounter. Our primary goal of creating an authentic relationship with the mentee is achieved by loving them right where they are at, establishing boundaries, listening for an invitation to speak into their lives, and being a supportive place to help them process their current life circumstances
EMPOWERMENT
EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
On their journeys to finding freedom from sexual exploitation and trafficking, many of the women we serve are faced with the harsh realities of poverty, unemployment, unstable housing and homelessness. Through our Angel Fund, in partnership with Change Reaction, Treasures is able to meet the emergency financial needs of women who are diligently fighting for their freedom and healing. Last year, we supported 144 women through our Angel Fund.
THE UPWARD FUND
Through the Upward Fund, in partnership with Change Reaction, Treasures is dedicated to supporting working individuals and families who are navigating significant life transitions, such as career development, moving into permanent housing, and moving from a supportive environment into a more independent situation. Through this fund, qualifying individuals receive an annual stipend of $5,100 paid out in increments of $425 per month, in order to support them as they transition to stabilization and permanent freedom from exploitation and trafficking.
TRAINING
Our training is designed to equip and empower allies, service providers and churches to effectively reach and support women in their cities who have been impacted by sexual exploitation and trafficking. To date, we have trained outreaches in over 120 cities on 6 continents.
COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT
In collaboration with three other Los Angeles-based non-profits providing services to women who have experienced exploitation and trafficking, Treasures is conducting a longitudinal study tracking survivor success in 14 different categories. We are utilizing data collected using the The Outcomes For Human Trafficking Survivors (OHTS) Instrument. The OHTS is an outcome evaluation instrument designed to help comprehensive service programs monitor progress toward outcomes among victims and survivors of human trafficking.
This will be the first study of its kind!
Currently there are no national longitudinal studies that track survivor success beyond exploitation. Survivors of trafficking do not have a linear journey to success therefore having data over a three year period would allow for a more comprehensive look at the necessary services survivors need for long term success.
